Mini Bucket has moved: Welcome to the new website with Community, Wiki, and Donations

Jun 1, 2026 | News | 0 comments

We are excited to share some important news: the Mini Bucket project (formerly known as “Mini-B”) has officially moved to a new domain. You can now find us at: https://mini-bucket.ru/

This move is more than just a change of address — it’s a step forward in our development. Mini Bucket remains a lightweight yet powerful NAS control panel that lets you turn any legacy hardware into a full-featured file server directly from your browser, with no command-line knowledge required.

But most importantly, alongside the move, we are launching several new sections that will make the project more convenient and more alive.

🗣 Join the discussion in the “Community” section

We’ve always aimed to be closer to our users. Now we have a dedicated space for dialogue: https://mini-bucket.ru/community/

We invite everyone — from beginners building their first NAS on an old PC, to experienced system administrators. Here you can:

  • Ask questions about setting up and using the panel;

  • Share your own configurations and use cases;

  • Suggest ideas for improvements;

  • Report bugs and issues.

We look forward to your participation — only together can we make Mini Bucket the perfect tool for home and small office environments.

📚 Wiki is gradually being filled

Documentation is the foundation of any serious project. We have started building the project Wiki, and it is already available for reading, although it continues to be actively expanded.

There you will find:

  • Installation and initial setup guides;

  • Descriptions of all modules: from the Firewall Manager and Web Console to the disk subsystem and SMB/NFS shares;

  • Distributed infrastructure schemes with automatic cascading key rotation;

  • Examples of using Cron, System Checker, and the Dual-Panel File Manager.

If you’d like to help with documentation or notice an inaccuracy — write to us in the community. Openness and collaboration are our principles.

💰 Support the project: Donations

Developing Mini Bucket (like any quality open-source system) takes time, resources, and inspiration. We have launched a page at https://mini-bucket.ru/donation/ so that everyone who benefits from the project can support its development.

Funds will go toward:

  • Server rentals for testing and CI/CD;

  • Purchasing various hardware for compatibility testing;

  • Developing new features (e.g., improved container support and backup).

Even a small donation is a sign that we are moving in the right direction. Thank you for being with us!

What hasn’t changed (and that’s a good thing)

Under the hood, all the powerful functionality that people value Mini Bucket for remains intact:

  • Live dashboard with CPU, network, disk, and SMART graphs;

  • Firewall manager (UFW) with preset rules;

  • Dual-panel file manager with background operations;

  • Disk, RAID 0/1/5/6/10, and LVM management with snapshots;

  • Web console (SSH via browser) with a VSCode-style theme;

  • Key feature: support for distributed infrastructure.
